One of the best things about building your own cage is you can size it to fit your
own needs, you can also add on once GLIDERITIS sets in. All of our glider houses
are made from PVC coated wire shelving  by Closetmaid.
These directions are for a glider house that measures 3ft 4in L X 2ft W X 6 ft 6" H.
Tools Needed
Power screw driver
Snips
Heavy duty bolt cutters

Supplies Needed
Cage-
8- 20" X 6'  1/2" close
mesh  pantry shelving
panels
1- 500 pack of zip ties
6- sliding locks
1-pkg end caps

Legs-
4- 7" wood 2"x 2"
8- 3 hole picture hooks
1 1/2" decking screws
1 1/4" decking screws
1- can of polyurethane
1- natural bristle brush

Base-
1- 43" L X 24" W X 3/4"
wood base
1 1/2" decking screws
6 -casters
16- #6 1/2 wood screws
polyurethane
Step 1-
You must treat your wood legs and base....Use a
minimum of 5 coatings of  polyurethane. Letting each
coat dry for 24 hours. This will prevent any urine and
droppings from soaking in and ruining your cage.

Step 2-
Lay out your shelving panels to form the back of your
cage. Put the "lips" together and zip tie, making sure you
put the zipped ends on the outside of the cage. I place 1
zip tie about every third                                         space down
throughout the entire cage.

Step 3-
Finish attaching all sides including the 2 front panels,
these will be your doors....the "lips" will be connected to
the 2 side panels and will serve as hinges.

Step 4-
Measure the inside of the cage where the floor will be
placed, approximately 6" up from the bottom. Using your
bolt cutters cut the shelving panel to fit.

Step 5-
Place the flooring in the bottom and align  where you
want it to sit. Mark with pen.
With your bolt cutters, cut the large
wire pieces so the bottom will slide
through. Secure with zip ties.

Step 6-
The floor panels "lip" is in front and
you will have to again cut with your
bolt cutters in the doors "lip" to shut
properly, mark , cut and slide the
flooring through and secure with zip ties.

Step 7-
Place your final piece of shelving on top, cut to fit and
secure with zip ties.

Step 8-
Trim all zip tie ends as close as possible...They can be
very sharp, we used a windshield sticker scrapper to cut
the ends flush, then sanded with a Dremel tool.

Step 9-
Lay your cage down and secure the legs
using the 7" 2 x 2's, 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" decking screws and
the picture hooks. We use these because they are raised
so the wire can fit behind and still lay flush with the wood
leg.

Step 10-
Now flip your cage on the
top end and secure your
base using 1 1/2" decking screws...We used 2 screws per
leg.

Step 11-
Add your casters to the bottom of the wood base using
1/2" #6 wood screws. 4 corners and 2 in the center for
added stability.

Step 12-
Turn your cage back
over so it's right side up.

You'll need to cut the bottom wires so you can slide your
litter tray or puppy pads underneath.

Step 13-
Decide where you would like your
doors cut. We did it just about center,
mark with pen and cut using bolt cutters.

Step 14-
Add your sliding locks
with zip ties as shown in
picture.

Step 15-
Finishing touches....add plastic end caps to exposed wire,
decorate with branches, vines,  and add all the toys it can
handle!!!
